Our aim is to offer young people irrespective of gender, ability, race religion, sexuality, geography, or finance a safe space in Yellow House where they can be themselves free from judgement.
All young people will be encouraged to partake in discussion, informal education and to speak up regarding the issues affecting young people within society today.
We will continue to utilise The Arts, including Culture, Theatre, Art, Poetry, Literature, TV, and Film to increase self-confidence, interpersonal skills and create friendships for young people who would otherwise be socially isolated.

We utilise The Arts including theatre, film, literature, poetry, painting, music, sketching etc. to raise awareness of issues YP are facing, as well as to increase self-confidence and promote wellbeing and positive friendships amongst our YP.
We hold various creative workshops each week at our safe space which are completely unique. All of our work is real life, from theatre performances to art projects – we develop all of our projects around issues that young people are facing and will often perform and exhibit to the wider community to raise awareness.

All of our YP are welcomed into our safe space – we often provide ‘a listening ear’ to many of the YP and their families who we meet on a regular basis. We hold drop-in sessions where young people can or will come and ask for advice or guidance on various things including employability and further education. Often, we will signpost to other partner organisations when required.
We often hold open forums and discussions with many young people, encouraging them to speak up; not only to give them a voice, but a chance to be heard too. We will then work with the young people as a collective to raise awareness around the issues they are facing. We will often develop projects around said issues and exhibit them to the wider community.
Young people pass through our doors every week to take part in one of our creative workshops or sessions within our creative centre – All sessions are free of charge.

Founded by George Mc Kane in the 1980’s, Yellow House has been working directly with young people across Merseyside every day for almost 40 years, becoming a registered charity in 1993.
Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, George set up the charity named after Van Goghs Yellow House in Arles.
Van Gogh lived and worked at the Yellow House and his door was always open – he did this so people saw the artist to be a vital part of the community and anyone was welcome, something we pride ourselves on here at Yellow House.
