Italy

Part of what we have always tried to do at Yellow House is give young people experiences they may not have had otherwise. We have taken hundreds of young people across Europe on European Exchanges where they have had chance to experience different cultures, however this has been made a lot more difficult since Brexit.

After listening to the young people telling us they missed this side of things, we decided that we would fundraise to pay for a trip to Italy for our core group of young people – and so we did just that! One of our members Dan raised money by completing a cycle from Liverpool to New Brighton and other donations and fundraising took place for around 6 months to get the money together for the trip.  And so, in September 2022, Yellow House and 20 young people flew to Bergamo in Italy.

We stayed in Bergamo and used the funicular to travel between the old and new town, seeing all the wonderful architecture and beautiful Art Bergamo had to offer!

One of the highlights of the trip was going to Verona, where we got to see the setting of one of the most famous love stories ever written – Romeo & Juliet.

All of our young people who attended had a wonderful time, it helped us to grow stronger as individuals and come together as friends should be!
